São Paulo
has two airports, the
Guarulhos International Airport (also
Cumbica) for oversee flights and the
Congonhas city airport for flights
mainly within Brazil and South America.
With normal traffic, the international airport is about 40 minutes to 1 hour by car from the center of São Paulo.
During rush hour or when it is raining,
transport can easily take 1 to 2 hours more.
In the case of strong rains, it is common that the main highways and tunnels are flooded and you either don´t reach the airport or just with
severe delays.
Most international flights arrive early in the morning and when several planes land at the same time, it takes long until
passing customs and luggage check.
