The dense evergreen tropical rainforest (Floresta Ombrófila Densa), sometimes also called
ombrophilous or moist broadleaf forest is an
ecosystem
of the
Atlantic
Rainforest
biome that occurs
along the coastal lowlands and
Serra do Mar
mountain range of Brazil´s Atlantic coast
(see

Variations of the dense tropical rainforest ecosystem are the open and
mixed tropical rainforest (Floresta Ombrófila Aberta / Mista).
The first one is a transitional rainforest ecosystem that connects the
Amazon and the
Atlantic Rainforest biome and the second one is an
ecosystem that occurs mainly in the state of Paraná and is principally composed of the so - called
Araucária
or Paraná pine tree (Araucária angustifolia).
