The rainforest trails of the
BocainaNational Park
are located in the
submontane,
montane and
high montanealtitudinal zone
between sea level and 2.200 m with walking times between 2 and 6 hours.
They are mostly historical trails that were opened during the 15th century by the
Indians and utilized during the 17th and 18th century for
gold, precious stones and later coffee transport from the upper
Paraíba Valley to the ports of
Mambucaba and Paraty
(see guided tours).
