São Paulo – Rio de Janeiro I is a medium level trekking (hiking) tour through the protected areas in the coastal area of the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It combines a series of day hikes along selected submontane and montane tropical rainforest trails on the continent (Serra do Mar), peninsulas and offshore islands. The tour focuses on nature, culture and local communities.

Each tour member has to carry his own small to medium size backpack. Accomodation is in private guest houses or houses of the local communities. No camping equipment is needed. A good physical condition and constitution is requested in order to enjoy average daily walking times of 3 – 6 hours and height differences of circa 500 m under tropical climate conditions.
