The South (
Sul), one of the five
Brazilian
Regions
is composed of the states
Paraná,
Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
With an area of 575.000 sqkm, which corresponds to 7% of the national territory, this region is a little larger than France.
After the
Southeast region, the South
contains the second largest quantity of native
Atlantic
Rainforest
/ (
Mata Atlântica),
of which about 900.000 hectars are
integral protected by 67
conservation units.
