The Tinharé & Boipeba Environmental Protection Area (APA) is a Sustainable Use Conservation Unit of the Mata Atlântica Biosphere Reserve in the south of the state of Bahia. It is located about 280 km southwest of Salvador on the so-called Dende coast. The islands are separated from each other by the Inferno - river.

The conservation unit protects several estuarine ecosystems of the Atlantic Rainforest biome such as mangroves, restinga or tropical rainforest. Many hiking and mountain bike options on unmarked restinga and mangrove forest trails available (Moreré, São Sebastião (Cova da Onça), Guarapuá or Morro de São Paulo).
