South Region
State of Paraná

Paraná is one of the three states of Brazil's South region and with an area of 200.000 square kilometers two times larger than Portugal. Its capital is Curitiba.

After the State of São Paulo, Paraná contains the second largest quantity of Atlantic Rainforest / (Mata Atlântica) of which about 540.000 hectars are preserved in form of 40 integral protection conservation units.

Of particular ecotouristic interest is the southern part of the Southeast Reserves World Heritage Site with the national parks Superagüi and Saint - Hilaire / Lange and Pico do Marumbi State Park.
