The colonial Morretes (state of Paraná) was founded in 1721 and is located 68 km south of Curitiba at the feet of the Graciosa Massive. It is one of the main entry points to the Pico do Marumbi State Park.

The main attractions of the town are the two churches Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Porto (1850) and Igreja de São Benedito (1765), the old bridge (Ponte Velha) crossing the Nhundiaquara River, the two traditional sugar cane distilleries ("alambiques") along the Anhaia road (still operating) and the traditional Barreado in one of the charming restaurants in the historic center.
