Due to the absence of roads and motorized vehicles, Ilha Grande possesses a large trail network that connects the little caiçara villages which are distributed all over the island. These rainforest trails are located in the submontane and montane altitudinal zone between sea level and 1.000 m height meters whith walking times between 2 and 7 hours (see guided tours).
