Visconde de Mauá – Ilha Grande

Brazil / Travel & Tours - Visconde de Mauá – Ilha Grande is an advanced level trekking / hiking tour through three conservation units of the Mata Atlântica Biosphere Reserve in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It is characterized by long day and multiple - day hikes including strong ascents.

Each tour member carries his own backpack with provisions and clothes for several days. Accomodation is in private guest houses or houses of the local communities. An exellent physical condition and constitution is requested in order to manage average daily walking times of 5 – 8 hours and height differences of up to 1.000 meters under tropical climate conditions.
