The Sun's Apparent Path

An observer on Earth doesn´t see himself moving around the Sun but the Sun around the Earth. Its trajectory across the sky is called "the sun's apparent path".

The seasons correspond to a parallel translation of this trajectory. Per season the variation in solar altitude at noon is 23,5°.

Within certain latitude invervals, these trajectories can be grouped to climate zones.

The sun's position at a certain latitude and a certain time can be visualized in a polar diagram.
